Discussion - Notes

The meeting looked at the options. Richard indicated that the City council had written to all the surrounding land owners asking them whether they were willing to develop on land that is in close proximity to existing housing on the periphery of the village. This would mean that the owners would be reluctant to rent their land for allotments. Keith Best (Colden Common Parish Clerk) is working with Derek Brunger on the list.

We agree the following actions :-

• Susie to contact Fair Oak Parish Clerk to find out how they got extra allotments
• Richard to find out if there is any Winchester City Council land that could be used and what the going rate for renting agricultural land.
• Rob to explore funding options for allotments.

Once we have the information to hand, we could then approach various owners to see whether they have any land that could be formally rented. We discussed the possibility of the Parish Council being the official tenant, but other options need to be explored.
